SW C-005 Sunset reflections of Minneapolis

As the sun set it casts its hues on the sky above downtown Minneapolis and these are reflected in the Mississippi River. 

Minneapolis is the largest city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It lies on both banks of the Mississippi River and adjoins Saint Paul, the state's capital. Known as the Twin Cities, Minneapolis–Saint Paul is the 16th-largest metropolitan area in the U.S., with the area containing approximately 3.8 million residents. The Minneapolis–St. Paul area is the second largest economic center in the Midwest, behind Chicago.  The economy of Minneapolis today is based in commerce, finance, rail and trucking services, health care, and industry.

Minneapolis is abundantly rich in water, with twenty lakes and wetlands and of course the Mississippi River.  Shown on this postcard is the Stone Arch Bridge (completed - 1883) which crosses the Mississippi at Saint Anthony Falls in downtown Minneapolis. This former railroad bridge is the only arched bridge made of stone on the entire length of Mississippi River. The bridge was built to connect the railway system to the planned new Union Depot.  In the 130 years of its existence the bridge has undergone a number of upgrades and repairs. In 1994 the bridge was converted to a pedestrian walkway.
